How to stock Thread Bars/Rock Bolt at construction site.
Many site teams underestimate steel storage. Even though thread bars are coated with anti‑rust oil, groundwater, dew and muddy moisture can still attack the steel surface quickly.
Rust may first appear at thread roots, which is the most stressed position for prestressing thread bars. Minor surface rust seems harmless at first, yet it will develop into stress corrosion under long‑term tension and greatly shorten the service life.
Recommended storage practice:
• Elevate all thread bolts on pallets or timber supports, keep fully off the ground.
• Sort bolts by diameter, grade and batch number, avoid mixed stacking.
• Protect threaded sections from impact, scratch and dirt.
• Cover with waterproof tarpaulin against rain and dew, reserve gaps for ventilation.
• Store accessories (nuts, plates, couplers) separately in dry condition.
• Follow first‑in, first‑out rule and inspect for rust before installation.
Storage is the first step of quality control after goods arrive on site. Small negligence may turn into big hidden trouble later.
